⚠️ ATHLETICS UPDATE – HEAT ADVISORY ⚠️
Due to the Heat Advisory and dangerously high temperatures, all Middle School and High School athletic games scheduled for today, Wednesday, September 2, and tomorrow, Thursday, September 3, are CANCELED.
Practices will be moved indoors and held in some form whenever possible. Coaches will communicate practice times, locations, and any adjustments directly with their teams.
If a practice must be canceled, student-athletes and families will be notified by their coach.
The safety of our student-athletes and staff remains our top priority. Thank you for your understanding and flexibility, and please stay safe in the heat!

Every school day matters! Regular attendance helps students stay on track academically, build strong relationships with teachers and classmates, and develop habits that will help them succeed in school and beyond.
We know families need time for appointments, travel, and family activities, and that’s why we created our School Breaks & Family Time calendar! 📅 The flyer below highlights holidays, school breaks, long weekends, early dismissal days, and other days when students are already out of school. Whenever possible, we encourage families to plan appointments and trips around these dates so students don’t have to miss valuable classroom time.

Lunenburg Middle School is kicking off the new school year with an incredible leadership team! We have a new principal and assistant principal, but these familiar faces are certainly not new to the LMS family.
👏 Please join us in congratulating Megan Martin, who steps into the role of Principal after serving as LMS Assistant Principal for the past two years. Her dedication to our students, staff, and school community has already made a lasting impact, and we know she'll continue to lead with excellence.
👏 We're also excited to welcome Elisabeth Amos as the new Assistant Principal! Previously serving as the school's Math Interventionist, Elisabeth has built strong relationships with students and staff and brings a passion for helping every student succeed.
We are thrilled to have these outstanding educators leading Lunenburg Middle School into an exciting new year! They are "ALL IN!"

On July 22, 2026, LCPS administrators came together for our annual Administrative Retreat as we prepared for an exciting new school year. The day was filled with collaboration, planning, and a shared commitment to ensuring a successful year for our students, staff, and community.
A highlight of the retreat was an inspiring presentation by speaker and author Lance Cibik. Drawing from his own life-changing experiences, Lance challenged our leadership team to view adversity as an opportunity for growth rather than an obstacle. His message emphasized that resilience, purpose, and the ability to perform under pressure are developed through life's challenges, not in spite of them.
Lance encouraged our administrators to lead with clarity, confidence, and purpose, reminding us that meaningful success comes from staying aligned with our mission—even during difficult times. His practical strategies for building resilience, strengthening leadership, and turning setbacks into opportunities left our team motivated, energized, and ready to lead with intention throughout the upcoming school year.
As Lance shared, "Adversity does not disqualify you, it prepares you. When purpose replaces survival, success becomes meaningful."
We are excited to carry this message of purpose-driven leadership into the 2026–2027 school year as we continue working together to inspire, support, and empower every student to succeed!

On July 23, 2026, the Lunenburg County School Board and Superintendent Dr. Sharon Stanislas participated in Governance Training provided by the Virginia School Boards Association. This professional development opportunity helps strengthen board leadership and supports effective governance for the benefit of our students, staff, and community.
