School Division Literacy Vision

All students will have access to equitable, evidence-based literacy instruction that ensures they become proficient readers, writers, communicators, and critical thinkers. To achieve this, the following conditions will be in place:

• Evidence-based core and supplemental instruction (K-5)

• Intervention, as outlined in an individualized student reading plan developed with families, if they do not meet literacy benchmarks (K-3)

• A multi-tiered framework that includes a data-driven progress monitoring system

• Professional development for all staff that is aligned to evidence and researched-based practices to improve literacy outcomes

• Ongoing learning opportunities for all stakeholders
