Central High School (CHS) will partner with Microsoft Philanthropies TEALS (Technology Education and Literacy in Schools) starting with the 2019-2020 school year. Microsoft Philanthropies TEALS is a program that recruits, mentors, and places passionate technology professionals into high school classrooms as volunteer instructors.
Volunteers are needed who work or have worked in computer science or software engineering to assist CHS with computer science in the classroom. If you or someone you know is interested and has this kind of experience, please contact Central High School at 434-696-2137.
These volunteers bring subject matter expertise and will join Mrs. Hope Scott to teach computer science together. TEALS provides training for both parties, rigorous curricula, and opportunities for students to continue their education outside of the classroom.
CHS will offer Introduction to Computer Science for the 2019-2020 school year. The introductory class is based on the award winning University of California Berkeley CS10 course and is adapted specifically for high schools. CHS will hold the courses first period to permit the volunteers to attend to their jobs.
