đź“–đź“šLCPS Pre K Students will be receiving books that will be sent home monthly. This will start in January and continue for the remainder of the school year. This donation was made possible by QuickStart Tennis of Central Virginia (QCV). QCV raises funds to provide Scholastic books to send home with preschoolers in public schools in central and southside Virginia. Teachers will be sending home monthly books for the remainder of the school year with FUN activities for families to read and learn together.
Lunenburg County Public Schools’ goal, with the support of QCV, is to help build at-home libraries for young kids, foster a love of reading, and improve school readiness. The book of the month for January is "How To Catch a Gingerbread Man" by Adam Wallace and Andy Elkerton. Families are encouraged to read these books with their child and participate in these at-home activities. 📖📚

Character education this month is all about Perseverance. One way to think about Perseverance is “pushing yourself through challenges and obstacles.” We all experience challenges in our lives. We all have moments when we feel like we can’t do it or that we want to give up on a big task. It is important to develop tools that help us work through those challenges in order to grow in those moments instead of giving up. How might you practice Perseverance as a family this month? Throughout the school, students will be developing skills like focusing, organizing, and goal-setting.
Lunenburg County Public Schools will be conducting drills for lock-down procedures in each of its schools during the week of January 9, 2023. These are just DRILLS. This message serves as our official notice. Code of Virginia Lock-Down Drills § 22.1-137.2. In every public school, there shall be a lock-down drill at least once during the first 20 school days of each school session, in order that students and teachers may be thoroughly practiced in such drills. Every public school shall hold at least two additional lock-down drills after the first 60 days of the school session. Every public school shall provide the parents of enrolled students with at least 24 hours notice before the school conducts any lock-down drill. Pre-kindergarten and kindergarten students shall be exempt from mandatory participation in lock-down drills during the first 60 days of the school session.

Comet Night Is Back!!!
Our third grade team is hosting Comet night tonight from 4 until 7 at Sundae's Restaurant in Kenbridge. Due to limited seating, we encourage drive through orders and take out orders as well. Thank you for supporting our community and students!!!
It's Handwashing Awareness Week! Cleanliness is a major factor in preventing foodborne illness. One of the best ways to prevent the spread of any germs is by washing your hands regularly. With the Flu, RSV, and COVID going around, handwashing is a great preventative measure that can easily be followed. #handwashingawarenessweek

Hello K.E.S families. We would like to remind you that our Holiday Gift Shop will be open this week, Monday-Friday. Your child will have the opportunity to shop throughout the week. Please send your child's money in the envelope provided with names of who they are shopping for. Thank you for supporting our Kenbridge Elementary School P.T.O.
Good evening K.E.S. families. We have a few reminders about dismissal in the afternoons. Any changes in your child’s dismissal arrangements should be made prior to 2:00 each afternoon. Sending changes to school by your child in writing is the best way to ensure that all parties are notified.
The front doors are locked at 3:00 each afternoon. Students picked up from the gym will be released starting at 3:25. Please stay in your vehicle and follow the traffic flow. Do not get out of your vehicle or park on the side of the street. We want to ensure the safety of everyone and appreciate your cooperation with this.
We will have our K.E.S Book Cart in the lobby tomorrow. Books will be on sale for $2 each. If you would like for your child to purchase a book, please send money tomorrow. There is a great selection of books available!! Thank you! Keep reading!
Central High School is proud to announce our December Student of the Month, Christopher Isaiah Kidd. Isaiah is currently an 11th Grader at CHS. He is the son of Ms. Rebecca Nowlin and Mr. Pete Daniel of Victoria, Virginia. His teachers describe him as an exceptional student in and out of the classroom. Isaiah is a CHS Scholastic Bowl Team member and has recently enjoyed serving as the Manager for the Football teams this past fall.
In addition, Isaiah enjoys cooking, and upon graduating, he plans to attend a culinary arts program to become a chef. His hobbies include listening to older music and playing video games. His favorite classes in school are his Culinary classes.
