A few words from Ms. Matthews...
Hello Lunenburg friends, families, and community members. My name is Tammy Wallace Matthews and I am thrilled to have the opportunity to serve as the principal of Kenbridge Elementary School. I am the daughter of two 1969 Central High School graduates. I am a proud graduate of CHS c/o 1991 and have two daughters that graduated from CHS as well. Charger Pride runs deep in our family.
I earned my Bachelor's Degree with a concentration in Elementary Education from Christopher Newport University and my Master's Degree in Literacy and Culture from Longwood University. I completed my Administration and Supervision Endorsement through Longwood University, as well.
I have been an educator with Lunenburg County Public Schools for 26 years. During that time, I taught at Victoria Elementary School for 19 years, I was a reading specialist at Kenbridge Elementary School for 3 years, and have served as the assistant principal for the past 4 years at KES.
I have been fortunate to grow up in such an amazing community and recognize that small communities have huge hearts. I appreciate the individuals that helped guide me and pushed me to be better each day. I respect the educators that have had a hand in guiding my children as well. Lunenburg has been blessed over the years with selfless, dedicated, hardworking teachers/staff that provided hope and encouragement. It is an honor to continue that tradition by working closely with our students, staff, parents, and the community to continue to grow and flourish.
It is my desire to provide a well-rounded curriculum in a learning environment, supported by community involvement, which will instill a love for learning, allow each student to achieve his/her potential, enhance self-esteem, and allow individual students to become productive members of society.
Together, we are better. Together, we are stronger and together, we make a bigger, more positive difference in the lives of our children. I am looking forward to this opportunity to work closely with each of you.
