Congratulations to Kashanti Hargrove, the March Work-Based Learning Student of the Month. Kashanti is a senior and an intern in the high school cafeteria. Kashanti’s cafeteria manager says she learns quickly, is dependable, and works well with others. The skills she is learning by working in the commercial kitchen at the high school will help prepare her for future employment. Kashanti would like to own and operate a bakery in the future.

Congratulations to CHS students Jahiem Callaham and Jackson Green who are new interns at Sunset Ornamental Concrete. Pictured with the interns is the owner, Mitch White. Thank you for supporting our students! Please visit Sunset Ornamental Concrete at 571 Price Gee Road in Meherrin. The company produces concrete statuary, birdbaths, benches, lawn decor and is a distributor of wood sheds and steel buildings.

Students in 3rd block marketing had the assignment of writing and giving a speech about a certain product. This was part of the communication lesson.

The CHS Marketing School Store is open for business during lunches on select days of the week. Many apparel designs were created by our students. Support the marketing school-based enterprise today!

March 2023 CENTRAL HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT OF THE MONTH
STUDENT NAME: Devion Zaire Carter
Central High School is proud to announce our March Student of the Month, Devion Carter. Devion is a 10th Grader at CHS. He is the son of Ms. Sonya Carter of Kenbridge, Virginia. His teachers describe him as a polite, intelligent, and considerate young man. He loves animals and is very kind to people. I have had the pleasure of teaching him this semester, and his laughter and great attitude are contagious! A model Charger- he is 100% HEART.
In addition, Devion attends Gilfield Baptist Church. He enjoys cooking and growing items in the garden. His specialty is baking delicious sweets for others to enjoy. He has a pet chicken and enjoys taking care of his animal. His favorite subject in school is Science.

The Teachers for Tomorrow students have been completing their weekly fieldwork at KES and VES. Each high school student is assigned to a teacher who mentors them throughout the semester. Their fieldwork began in January and will end at the end of April.
After this semester, our students are eligible to take Teachers for Tomorrow II which is through SVCC. They will receive dual enrollment and high school credit and will continue to complete work at the elementary schools.

CHS Seniors, don't forget to get your senior orders to Herff Jones!

LCPS will operate on a two hour delay today, Tuesday, February 28, 2023, due to dense fog. 12 month employees report two hours late as well.
In honor of Black History Month, the Central High School jazz band was invited to play for the residents in The Hundley Center and patients, visitors, and caregivers at VCU Health Community Memorial Hospital. Our students did a great job!
