ATTENTION CHS SENIORS--On Tuesday, October 24, 2023, CHS will host an FSA ID creation night during the Parent Teacher Conference 2:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m. The FSA ID is required for both parents and students in order to apply for the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). This event is for seniors looking to further their education once they graduate from CHS to attend college or technical school. The FAFSA is what qualifies students for federal aid, scholarships, grants, and more! Both parents and students that attend will need an email and their social security numbers. For more information please contact Central Guidance Office!

💜💛October 23-27, 2023 is Virginia College Application Week 💜💛 All Seniors will be encouraged to apply for admission to at least one college or university if they have not already done so. This event is possible due to the collaboration efforts of the administration, faculty, and staff at Central High School, as well as students, their families, and volunteers across the community. The program aims to increase the number of eligible Virginia high school students applying to colleges early in their senior year. Information about completing the Free Application for Federal Aide (FAFSA) will also be made available during the event. There is a Student Profile that we encourage students to complete prior to the event that is available on www.LevelUpVirginia.org or in the school counseling office. Having this profile completed and available during Virginia College Application Week will allow students to quickly and easily complete college applications. We anticipate the student and their families will need to work together in gathering information listed on the student profile. Families are welcome to set an appointment time to visit Central High School on October 23 through 27 to assist their students during the application process. If you have any questions please call LaTonya Stith, School Counselor, at 434-696-2137 or email latonya.stith@k12lcps.org. Thank you in advance for supporting this exciting initiative to encourage all Virginia students to make college a part of their future.

CHS was placed in lockdown this morning due to the investigation of a threat. The lockdown has been lifted, and as a precaution, students and staff are asked to remain in their classrooms in order to keep the hallways empty. Classroom learning will continue throughout the Hold, but students will not be able to change classes. The safety and security of your child is our top priority. We will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates.

Chronic absenteeism is at a critically high rate across the state of VA. Governor Youngkin announced his comprehensive plan yesterday, "All IN VA," of which attendance is a major focus. With September being Attendance Awareness Month, here at LCPS, we have created a webpage for attendance and a video, starring LCPS Students, that highlights our attendance motto for the year, "Win With Less than 10." It is important that students be at school EVERY DAY! When they are not, it affects ALL areas of their academics! https://www.lunenburgcountyschools.org/page/attendance https://youtu.be/VI_R3Vv4Fnw #ElevateEducators #AttendanceAwarenessMonth #AttendanceMattersVA #WinWithLessThan10
