Michelle Jones-Finney

Greetings Lunenburg Middle School Family!!!

It is a great honor to introduce myself as the principal of Lunenburg Middle School.  I am ecstatic and humbled to join such an awesome school community. This year promises to be extraordinary as I work with teachers, students, staff, and parents to educate our students and help them on their journey to becoming effective citizens of our community.

I have been dedicated to the field of education for 35 years.  My experience includes teaching third grade in New York City Public Schools, fifth grade in Richmond Public Schools, 8th grade English in Brunswick County Public Schools, and Halifax County, NC as an instructional coach. Additionally, I served as Director of the Single Parent Program and the Child Development Center at Saint Paul’s College.  Most recently, I served as the Assistant Principal right here in Lunenburg County at Central High School.

As I reflect on past experiences and plan for this year, my ‘why’ for being in education is to help children reach their highest potential.  I believe that all students can learn if we believe in them and build relationships.  To make this happen, strong family support is essential.  With parents and the school working together as a team we will be unstoppable.

On a personal note, in addition to being an educator I am a wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt and grandmother.  I have three sons and three grandchildren. I truly believe that family is everything; this is why I believe that having a strong relationship with family is essential to a child’s education.

Again, I am truly honored to serve as the principal of Lunenburg Middle School.  I look forward to this being an “extraordinary” year as we work together as a family.  My door is always open!

Sincerely,

Michelle Jones-Finney, M.Ed.
