#ChargersToTheRescue --A Partnership with Lunenburg Animal Control 💜💛Over the last few weeks, CHS students have worked to create flyers to promote the adoption day. Also, students made dog treats to be given to each family who adopted a dog. Channel 6 News Reporter, Caroline Coleburn featured a story on the Service Learning project with the Animal Shelter which aired on Thursday and helped promote the Adoption/Donation event at the animal shelter this past Saturday. 💜💛The event was a success! Students volunteered at the shelter Saturday morning. They walked dogs and decorated Kennel #7 which is sponsored by the students in an effort to raise money for the 8th Annual Ruff-In-It Day on Thanksgiving Day. There were 2 dogs and 2 cats adopted as a result of the Adoption/Donation Day. Several monetary donations were collected to go to the spay and neuter program. 💜💛Lucky is a dog that has been at the shelter for almost 7 months. He was adopted by a loving family. On Tuesday, the Small Animal Care students at CHS bathed and groomed him as part of their school-based enterprise-Central Spa and Grooming. The students who sponsored him and worked to get him adopted were present to help pamper Lucky.

💜💛October 23-27, 2023 is Virginia College Application Week 💜💛 All Seniors will be encouraged to apply for admission to at least one college or university if they have not already done so. This event is possible due to the collaboration efforts of the administration, faculty, and staff at Central High School, as well as students, their families, and volunteers across the community. The program aims to increase the number of eligible Virginia high school students applying to colleges early in their senior year. Information about completing the Free Application for Federal Aide (FAFSA) will also be made available during the event. There is a Student Profile that we encourage students to complete prior to the event that is available on www.LevelUpVirginia.org or in the school counseling office. Having this profile completed and available during Virginia College Application Week will allow students to quickly and easily complete college applications. We anticipate the student and their families will need to work together in gathering information listed on the student profile. Families are welcome to set an appointment time to visit Central High School on October 23 through 27 to assist their students during the application process. If you have any questions please call LaTonya Stith, School Counselor, at 434-696-2137 or email latonya.stith@k12lcps.org. Thank you in advance for supporting this exciting initiative to encourage all Virginia students to make college a part of their future.
